JEDDAH: Sky Freight-OSN won a tight battle for Team of the Week honors against Solid Striker during the 9th session in the FTBJ 52nd Open Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City.
When the chase for points ended Sky Freight of Emy de Guzman had the top tally of 33 points, with Solid Striker on 31.
For this session it seemed like Sky Freight and Solid Striker both had the stage all to themselves as Sarimanok finished a distant third on the night on 24, followed by league leader Bank AlJazira Fawri 23, D’ Barkads 20 and Red Dragons 17.
Bowling City and For Yooyooo tied on 12 points while Sagmit Dental Clinic was 9th and last on 8.
The Bowler of the Week accolade went to Solid Striker’s Philip Raymundo, a Class O bowler formerly based in Dubai who rolled the high series of 739 on lines of 238, 246 and 255.
Sky Freight and Solid Striker were in second and third places behind first game winner Sarimanok but traded the upper hand in the next two games and overall output. Sky Freight, however, made it by taking the third game three notches ahead of Solid Striker which in turn edged the Cargo Specialists in overall output.
Marlon Bernabe shot 626 and Bonnie Garcia added 622 at the helm of a six-man Sky Freight rotation where Nanding Siasoco was the other player to go the distance on 595. Pancho Cuevas carded 222-197, Romy Bunagan compiled 226-211 and Oca Bernabe had 205-239.
Rene Ocampo and Nap Patayan fired 645 and 644 respectively in support of Raymundo at Solid Striker, while with two games each were Richard Antonio 182-208, Jay Bengco 172-205 and Mhon Laxamana 180-162.
For Sarimanok the main man was Edwin Ronquillo who tallied 649 to go with the 647 by Mark Piosca, 605 by Tope Sayson, 599 by Jimmy Urbano, 148-156 by Alex Flora and 182 by Melo Dianco.
In the lead for the sixth week running, Fawri drew 665 from Nezar Al Hamwe, 600 from Randy Mata, 589 from Jowet Carion, 539 from Wilson Triguero, 202-211 from Bing Amolo and 190 from Atoi Cruz.
