Sky Freight-TFC continued to bang hard on the leader’s door by winning its second Team of the Week award in four sessions and third overall during the 11th week in the FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

In what was effectively a two-way race for honors between the league top two Sky Freight edged No. 1 JP Gilas 41 to 38 points.

This remarkable display enabled second-ranked Sky Freight to close the gap on Gilas, which did not go home empty-handed, however, when one of its key players, Rene Punzalan, captured the men’s Bowler of the Week plum by carding the high series of 663.

Hidada Ltd. returned 31 points with Lucky Strike and Lance & 3rdy tied on 29 points followed by Purefoods Hotdog 23, Alliance in Motion Global 20, GM Pin Pals 18 and D’ Barkads 14. Pin Crushers and D’ Frontiers brought up the rear on 11 and 10 points.

Keeping the faith in a five-man rotation, Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight drew 600 series each from Rod Morales 625, Goying Salazar 619 and Rene Santiago 611. Imelda Sayago and Babes Tiongson added 593 and 581 from the distaff side.

Gilas likewise used five players in the lineup but unlike Sky Freight, which went first-second in a fast start, it had to rely on a third game win to get to No. 2 in the session race for points.

In addition to Rene Gilas received good numbers from Rey Beltran 659 and Paolo Allego 612. Lou Punzalan made 589 and Jeanette Cerbito tallied 550.

Over at Hidada Romy Bunagan shot the top score of 608 to go with the 596 by Nanding Siasoco, 586 by Pinky Acato, 542 by Paul Antiporda and 512 by Grace Siasoco.

For Lucky Strike Frank Afurong was at the helm on 575. The other scorers were Edna Bruset 548, Danny Bautista 547, Archie Santos 542 and Nurissa Ramos 539.

Joey Calapatia and Ver Jasa spearheaded Lance on 632 and 600 respectively.

To Len-Len Berina of Purefoods went the ladies Bowler of the Week on 621.
