JEDDAH: STC of coach Randy Tuazon beat BUPA 81-71 in the PEAK-JBL Basketball tournament at Al Baik court in Khalidia District here.

It was a dingdong battle up to the last minutes of the game. STC showed toughness in their offense as they attacked BUPA defense in the final quarter. Lee scored personal best of 28 points for STC and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports Best Player of the game while Ruben Del Rosario collected 23 points mostly in the three points area.

This tournament is principally sponsored by PEAK Sodas Sports and Shoe Arena. The co-sponsors are Mandhoubiyah Islamic Propagation Office, Jeddah Dawah Center, Deepvision Advertising Company, Mousa Ignacio and Arab News.

Avengers of playing coach George Feliciano defeated Tropang Bakhs 94-89. Avengers’ inside plays were unstoppable. Tropang Bakhs’ outside snipping in the fourth quarter put them back in the game but Avengers displayed heart in the dying seconds of the game for their first win in two outings. Vega top scored with 23 points for Avengers and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Encabo had 32 points for Tropang Bakhs.

Khalidia Tambays of coach Ronnie Carino beat Blazers 102-84. Khalidia Tambayz played good offense in the whole game as Blazers tried hard to keep the game with their running game but they collapsed in the dying minutes of the game. Garcia chipped in 30 points for Khalidia Tambayz and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports Best Player of the game while Veneracion scored 21 points for Blazers.

In Friday games, Knights outscored Leylati 120-104. Both teams displayed organized offense up to last quarter. Knights went to their defense to defuse Leylati in the crucial seconds of the game. David led the Knights with 38 big points and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Hugo top score with 37 points for Leylati.

Manila Hotdog of Loue Ghazi beat UDG 82-51. Manila Hotdog relied on its inside game in the final quarter as UDG started to lose their steam. Olasiman top score with 16 points for Manila Hotdog with his daredevil drives and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports Best Player of the game while Camartin scored 12 points for UDG.

Khalidia Knights defeated Gensoul 91-86. It was an exciting ball game up to the last seconds of the game as both teams showed never-say-die attitude. Gensoul almost won the game but missed crucial baskets in addition to back-to-back passing errors. Khalidia Knights relied on their free throws in the dying seconds for their first win. George chipped in 24 points for Khalidia Knights and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Naluz top-scored with 19 points for Gensoul.
