NEW ORLEANS: Hudson Swafford shot a six-under 66 in the second round on Friday to move into a tie for the lead as the Zurich Classic was suspended for the second straight day.

Swafford ended 36 holes at an 11-under-par 133 at the TPC Louisiana. He was joined in the lead by first-round co-leader Boo Weekley, who was three-under par through 15 holes of round two in the PGA Tour event.

Swafford is looking for his first USPGA Tour win, while Weekley is a three-time winner on the US tour.

With strong storms in the area, play was called for the day. The first round was completed earlier Friday after being stopped by darkness on Thursday. There was a 78-minute weather delay on Thursday that pushed play back.

The second round will resume Saturday morning.

Brendon de Jonge (70) and Cameron Tringale (65) are tied at 10-under. De Jonge shared the first-round lead with Weekley.

Jerry Kelly (17 holes), Daniel Berger (15) and Jason Day (14) also shared third place.

Swafford converted his sixth birdie of the day at the 16th. He closed his round with a pair of pars.

“It was really solid. The wind was kind of down early, and I hit some nice quality golf shots and just stayed patient. The wind then started picking up and we actually got put on the clock on 15,” Swafford said.

“Maybe a couple of out-of-rhythm shots coming in on 16 the tee ball and 17 the tee shot wasn’t that good, but all in all a really solid day.”

Chad Campbell posted a four-under 68 to move into a tie for eighth place at nine-under-par 135. He was joined there by five other players, who were all on the course when the horns blew to stop play.

Levy rallies for comeback at China Open

In Shanghai, Alexander Levy of France fought his way back to the top of the leaderboard on the third day of the Volvo China Open Saturday, overtaking compatriot Julien Quesne in the $3.2 million tournament.

Levy was in a group of four players including England’s David Howell and China’s Wu Ashun and Li Haotong finishing the round with eight under overall at the par 72 Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.

“It was the perfect start for me, but after that I got a little bit nervous, because I haven’t played well for three months now so I haven’t been in this position for a while,” Levy said, according to information released by the organizers.

“I’m just really happy to be playing some good golf again, that’s more important than me worrying about winning the trophy again,” he added.

The quartet of leaders was followed by another group of four on six under, including Scotland’s Richie Ramsay, Thailand’s Prom Meesawat, England’s Seve Benson and Sweden’s Magnus Carlsson.

The Swede rocketed 37 places up the leaderboard with a seven-under 65, the best round of the day.

Quesne, meanwhile, had fired a blistering five under par on the second day of the tournament. But his four-over-par 76 on Saturday left him four shots behind the leaders.

Howell, who shot a four under on Saturday, said that he knew “what to expect today, and took advantage.”

“I felt like there was a score to be had out there, and I adapted to the conditions much better than I did yesterday, when I struggled with the comparative softness of the course,” he said.

Westwood takes lead in Indonesian Masters

England’s former number one Lee Westwood stormed ahead to snatch the third round lead with a seven-under-par 65 at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters. Westwood cut a frustrated figure in his front-nine but an astonishing back-nine 29 saw him compile a three-day total of eight-under-par 208 to establish a five-shot lead going into the final round at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club. Thailand’s Namchok Tantipokhakul carded a 71 to tie for second with Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn and South Korea’s Y.E. Yang on 213 at the $750,000 Asian Tour event.
