And Western Union kept alive its hopes for a final spot in the Open Non-Rated with a 79-65 victory over erstwhile unbeaten Lebanese Community during the 16th week entering the homestretch of eliminations in the Microsoft Lumia & 36th FBA Basketball Tournament at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel court.

Best Player Gab Arkanghel scored 23 points and Santiago added 16 as Sweet Bloomer defeated Default 70-61 to finish on 6-1 in a tie with idle Nesma but claimed the top spot by virtue of the winner over the other rule.

Uncle Majid Rice & Toppings will have a chance to defend its Inter-Hotel & Restaurant but as the No. 4 qualifier at 2-2 will be up against No. 1 Durrat (4-0) with a twice to beat privilege. It will be Cabalen (2-2) against Jeddah Hilton Hotel (2-2) in the other semis matchup.

KIA Motors rode a 20-13 first quarter start to a 81-76 triumph over Princeton in the first of three crucial games Friday to seal its place in the final. Jay Liam tallied 22 points and Best Player Defensor had 19 and Cutamora 18 for KIA. Mohanad Amir, returning from injury, scored 23 points at the helm of Princeton.

Vicky & Sam’s Pride followed KIA to the final by beating Al Saady Trading 77-71 before the game between Western Union and the Lebanese that saw coach Boy Corsega, travelling from Riyadh, call the shots for the Money Transfer Specialists.

The trio of Best Player Amparado, Montejo and Nemitz Dangao delivered the lethal blows for VSP with 26, 18 and 15 points.

Morsi Akad scored a night-high 36 points and along with Joseph Ubalde, who had 18 points, bore the brunt of scoring for Western Union, which is still in the race at 3-2 in a tie with Egypt Selection. Western Union and Egypt both have a game remaining while the Lebanese at 3-1 still have two games left to play in the eliminations.

Elsewhere, Westside Beesline continues to hold sway at the top in Inter-Company D, crushing Wafu Wafu Tropafeefs 84-60 in the first game Thursday for its sixth game in eight outings while AVK dowend Saudi German Hospital 87-76 in Inter-Company C and Nexus defeated Princeton 91-81 in Inter-Commercial Open Non Rated Division.

In other Inter-Company D games, it’s Freyssinet 84 WTF 64, Darjana 69 Huta 52 and Saudi Diyar 62 Toyota 59.
