Taurus hammered out an emphatic 18-2 victory over Zikato Strikers in an early meeting between championship protagonists of the last conference that highlighted the start of the OFBC Friday Morning League 5+1 Season 4 recently at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

Taurus, runner-up to champion Zikato, then known as Velocity Strikers, ended the session on 25 total points including rank points of 7 to become the Team of the Week. Ric Nangel completed a Taurus double by clinching the men’s Bowler of the Week award.

Thus did Taurus, captained by Edwin Ronquillo, exact revenge on Toto Lim’s team that swept their two-game series championship match in which Taurus was seeded No. 1 and Velocity No. 2.

Troopers and Selections each totaled 20 points with D’ Luf’s Strikers on 19, as the five-man team league event that attracted 8 teams took off with Zikato Construction through Operations Manager Albert Zuniga as the major sponsor.

Troopers of Elie Arciaga crushed Archie Team 18-2 on total pinfalls of 2,070 and 1,996 and rank points of 2 and 1 while Vov Stone’s Selections brought down Kruathai Restaurant of Ed Labuac 16-4 (2,374-2,320 4-3).

D’ Luf’s mentored by Danny Atubang posted the top rank points of 8 after compiling 2,652 pinfalls in an 11-9 victory over Bash Langa’s Cyclone Star which returned 2,603 for rank points of 6.

The opening week had Carmen Duma of Luf’s winning the ladies Bowler of the Week plum on 556. She posted the ladies high game with handicap record to beat of 196 in addition to that high series with handicap of 556. The other records set were 559, 217 and 193 men’s high series with handicap, high game with handicap and high game scratch by Nangel, 505 and 436 men’s and ladies high game scratch by Bash Langa and Delia Javing, and 161 ladies high game scratch by Carms Lim.

Backing up the record-settting display by Nangel at Taurus was Jhoon Caisip who rolled the day’s third-best score of 542. Ronquillo tossed in 494, Fedelyn Bustinera had 440, Hadi Pacheco made 180-176 and Regino Mendoza added 179.

Zaldy Javing, Arciaga and Jojie Manalansan went full games as the top trio on the Troopers lineup on 479, 461 and 418 to go with the 120-123 scratch games from Dolphy Estrada and 130 by Buboy Trinidad.

The duo of Lexter Atienza and Jhun Ejanda struck hardest for Selections on 546 and 510, while Jude Vivero added 422 and Stone had 410. Thea Busico contributed 109-156 and Christine Stone tallied 119.

Over at Luf’s the husband-and-wife team of Alexander Duma and Carmen Duma showed the way on 551 and 556 with Farida de Guzman on 516, Atubang 146-134, Sol Cuenca 154-144 and Ed Cordova 182-173.
