Taurus sustained a hot start, scoring the first perfect score of 28 points on the way to its third consecutive Team of the Week award during Week 3 of the OFBC Friday Morning League 5+1 Season 4 recently at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

Unlike the previous week it was only Taurus that scored a shutout, 20-0 over D’ Luf’s Strikers in a match that yielded respective total pinfalls of 2,511-2411 and rank points of 8-5.

The second highest points getter in the young tournament on 25 was Krau Thai Restaurant, which crushed Troopers 18-2 on total poinfalls of 2,493-22,31 and rank points of 7-1.

Cyclone won its second straight match after opening its campaign with a loss when it brought down Zikato Strikers 16-4 (2,300-2,483 6-2). Cyclone finished the session on 22 points to overtake Luf’s at second place in the team standings.

In the other match, Archie’s Team drew with Selections 10-10 (2,388-2,340 4-1).

Krau Thai, a team sponsored by the Riyadh-based Thai restaurant with the same name which is soon to open a branch in Jeddah, shared some of the limelight after its lady bowler Alice Penus clinched Bowler of the Week honors along with male awardee Salic “Lex” Mudag of Cyclone.

Mudac shot the week’s high series of 549 and Penus her division’s high series of 536 that included the new record to beat of high game scratch 174 and high game with handicap 208.

Taurus had a single set of five players whose scores counted toward the total, led by Hadi Pacheco on 544. Ric Nangel added 541, Jhoon Caisip tossed in 535, Gil Catral tallied 516 and Fedelyn Bustinera contributed 375.

Team captain Ed Labuac backed up Penus on 510 to go with the 490 by Margie Villasanta, 481 by Obet Vedonia and 476 by Mildred Florentino, as Krau Thai did well with a five-man rotation.

Gloria Papa complemented Mudag’s efforts at Cylone with a fine round of 508, while Thong Langa carded 461 as the third player to roll three games. With two games each were Jack Jarin 124-147, Richard Junio 203-157 and Tito Cruz 124-148.

Archie Alcantara’s team had the trio of Hyeth Achai, Jeff Magallanes and Ogie Reyes leading the way on 523, 511 and 509 to go with the 456 by Ross Isabiniano and 389 by Marlyn Mangunay.

Selections likewise used five-man team, led by Rico Parcon on 505. The other scorers were Jhun Ejanda 495, Rudy Ramos 388, Lexter Atienza 429 and Thea Busico 423.
