JEDDAH: Tetra Pak upset Fame 74-67 to qualify for the semifinals in Group A in the SEIKO Watch-JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at Khalidia court here.
With elimination staring Tetra Pak in the face the team played its heart out in the final quarter to advance to the next round. Fame missed important baskets in the final quarter and committed crucial errors. Collado top-scored with 34 points for Tetra Pak and was adjudged as the SEIKO Watch best player of the game while Garcia had 21 points for Fame.

ICHTHUS of Dennis Elmenzo defeated Thunder 88-82. ICHTHUS applied man-to-man defense to halt Thunder offense in the fourth quarter. Thunder showed team work in the whole game but ICHTHUS managed to dominate the offense in the crucial minutes of the game. Carbonel scored 27 points for ICHTHUS and was adjudged as the Giordano best players of the game while Mickey Leyva led Thunder with 26 points.
Pazadaure beat Sunbulah 105-58. Pazadaure applied trapping defense from the start as Sunbulah tried hard to contain the enemy offense but Pazadaure defensive plan gave their ball handlers a big headache. Manuel chipped in 24 points for Pazadaure and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Munez had 20 points for Sunbulah.
Khalidia Tambayz of coach Gerry Acosta defeated Leylaty 110-76. Khalidia Tambayz showed excellent offensive plays in the whole game. Leylaty tried hard to keep its rival at bay but missed their important jumpers in the fourth quarter. Ricky Sakuragi Serrano top-scored with 27 points for Khalidia Tambayz and was adjudged as the SEIKO Watch best player of the game while Fernandez had 27 points for Leylaty.
Meanwhile, Jeddah Basketball League will host the 1st S.N.K.S.J. – JBL Teens Junior, Midget and Mix Parent Junior Basketball Tournament set to start Oct. 28 at the Khalidia court. JBL Teens after their successful stint in BM Riyadh Regional showdown capturing the championship rrown in the Midget and Juniors Division will prepare for another out-of-town games in December. JBL Teens want to dedicate their championship trophies to their volunteer coaches and their very supportive parents.
