JEDDAH: On a day when fortunes turned tides, some of the top teams crashed out in the super 16 stage of the Jeddah Champions Trophy organized by Team Azizia Deccan and sponsored by Ford Al Jazirah vehicles.

First it was defending champions Azizia Deccan, who after a superb start allowed their opponents Azizia XI to dominate the proceedings during the second half of Azizia’s innings.

In reply the host lost early wickets in pursuit of 115 runs to eventually lose the match by 12 runs.

Another favorite, Nazar Guys were shown the exit door by a rampant Reliance Cricket which notched up 140 runs on the board and then ran riot by reducing their opponents to 30 for 5 in first six overs and effectively killed any chances of their opponents making a comeback.

Later in the day, another well-known Jeddah Gladiators followed as they lost to new comers Arabian XI who will play against last season’s finalist Hyderabad Royals in the quarterfinals.

Team KSA Blue, Kerala Knightriders, Warangal CC and Jeddah Warriors are the other teams to qualify for the quarterfinals.
