JEDDAH: Toshi posted a Team of the Week and men’s Bowler of the Week double on a day when teams struggled to score points in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
The 12th session in the four-man team league event organized by Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club saw the winning teams unable to make win points higher than 16.
Toshi claimed honors for the second time on 26 total points, disposing of the tournament whipping team, SGH Bowling Group, 16-4 on total pinfalls of 2,096-2,013 and rank points of 10 and 9.
Rico Bulalayao doubled the joy for Toshi when the clinched the individual Bowler of the Week award on 613 on lines of 207, 145, 207.
Al-Tayyer United Contracting rebounded from a defeat the previous week by Youngsters by beating Shadow Bowlers 16-4 (1,978-1,971 and 8-2) to be the second-best of the week on 24 points.
On 21 points was RTJ Transient House, which hammered out a 16-4 triumph over luckless Velocity Strikers on total pinfalls of 1,931-1,897 and rank points of 5-4.
Nilobabes continued to take care of themselves at No. 1 in the team standings as they netted 15 points on the day with a 12-8 victory over Expendabowls on total pinfalls of 1,940 and 1,876 and rank points of 3 amd 6.
In the other match, Arcie-5 brought down Youngsters 12-8 (1,823-1,835 and 1-2).
Marlyn Mangunay of Expendabowls, which matched RTJ’s back-to-back and three Team of the Week victories overall, emerged with the most number of Bowler of Week awards by winning her fourth with a 521 effort.
Cesar Sacramed and Jose Bayag Jr. provided strong support to Bulalayao at Toshi with rounds of 526 and 506 while Cesar’s wife Vivian added 451.
At Al-Tayyer three players crossed 500 namely the Duma couple Alex and Carmen on 511 and 506 respectively and Jojo Esperanzate on 502. Jack Jarin contributed 459.
Ed Cordova was the main man at RTJ, shooting 542 to go with the 483 by Archie Alcantara, 466 by team captain Rudy “RJ” Jamon and 440 by Malou Nidoy. It was another tough day for their opponent, Velocity Strikers, who last won four weeks ago when they clinched their breakthrough Team of the Week plum.
The Patayans were on duty at Nilobabes — daughter Sharmaine coming up with 517, mother Susan with 508 and father Nap with 451. Skipper Babes Yushimine added 400.
Ramon Fabro took charge at Arci-5 with 574, while Delia Javing carded 464, Alan Ornedo made 427 and Eli Arciaga tossed in 358.
