JEDDAH: Toshi underlined its own credentials as title contender with a breakthrough Team of the Week victory during an eventful seventh session in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
Toshi shut out Saudi German Hospital 20-0 on total pinfalls of 2, 128 and 1, 948, and with rank points of 9 finished the week on 29, a point shy of the perfect 30 that RTJ Transient House and Velocity Strikers achieved thus far in the four-man team Friday league event.
Shadow Bowlers was the other team to score a 20-0 shutout victory, against Youngsters on total pinfalls of 2, 104 and 1, 913 to finish tied on 28 points with Nilobabes, who brought previous week honoree Velocity Strikers-3 back to earth with a comprehensive 18-2 (2, 133-1, 965) win in their match.
Nilobabes also produced the ladies Bowler of the Week in Babes Yushimine but more importantly they passed long time leader RTJ Transient House at first place in the team standings.
RTJ found itself consigned in third place despite its 21 points off an 18-2 triumph over The Expendabowls on total pinfalls of 1, 827-1, 743 and rank points of 3-1.
The Week 7 upheaval also had Toshi moving up a notch to second. League top three Nilobabes, Toshi and RTJ are separated by not more than two points in an interesting three-way race for the No. 1.
In the other match, Al-Tayyer Contracting Ltd. crushed Arci-5 18-2 on total pinfalls of 1, 875-1, 814 and rank points of 4-2.
Toshi bowled solid as a team with Rico Bulalayao and Vivian Sacramed at the helm on 536 and 534. Cesar Sacramed added 517 and team captain Ryan Liwagon had 505.
Shadow Bowlers had men’s Bowler of the Week Hadi Pacheco leading the charge on 588, with Edwin Agustin on 541, Jhun Ejanda 509 and Rosalie Due Agustin 466.
In leading from the front at Nilobabes skipper Yushimine carded 574 while Epoy Santos added 552, Nap Patayan 531and Susan Patayan 476.
It was a low-scoring week and erstwhile leader RTJ was most affected as it fared poorly in the battle for rank points with only Ed Cordova reaching 500. Archie Alcantara was two pins short on 498 while team captain Rudy “RJ” Jamon rolled 431 and Hershel Rose Riazon returned 398.
For Al-Tayyer the scorers were Jojo Esperanzate 482, Carmen Duma 475, Joel Nidoy 461 and Alex Duma 457.
