ARLINGTON, Texas: Mike Trout had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run to back another win in Texas for Hector Santiago as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Rangers 10-2 in a series finale Wednesday.

Santiago (1-1) allowed one run and four hits over seven innings, improving to 4-0 with a 2.15 ERA in five career starts at Texas.

Los Angeles scored six runs in the second off Anthony Ranaudo (0-1), who made his Texas debut while starting in place of injured Derek Holland.

Albert Pujols had a pair of RBI singles and David Freese added a two-run single for the Angels.

Kansas City became the last team in the majors to lose this season as Kyle Gibson pitched into the seventh inning and Oswaldo Arcia hit a two-run homer to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 3-1 victory over the Royals.

The Royals (7-1) were chasing the 2003 team’s 9-0 start as the best in franchise history, but Gibson (1-1) used 12 groundball outs and three strikeouts to keep the highest-scoring team in the majors quiet for a night.

Seattle’s Nelson Cruz extended his home run streak to a career-best five straight games.

The Washington Nationals trounced the Boston Red Sox 10-5 after Wilson Ramos hit a three-run double and Ian Desmond slammed a solo homer during a six-run third inning.

Justin Upton homered with two outs in the eighth inning to give the San Diego Padres a 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Chicago Cubs blanked the Cincinnati Reds 5-0, the New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 and the Colorado Rockies were 4-2 winners over the San Francisco Giants.
