JEDDAH: Saudi Cricket Center organized two elementary level umpiring courses in the cities of Al Madinah Al Munawwara and Jeddah recently.

Twenty-two umpires representing YACA (Yanbu Al Saniyah Cricket Association), MCL (Madinah Cricket League) and MCA (Madinah Cricket Association) participated in a three-day course in Madinha on 23-25 of last month. In Jeddah 36 umpires from WPCA (Western Province Cricket Association) and JCA (Jeddah Cricket Association) have participated in the course held on 30th April to 1 May.

The umpires were given detailed description of 42 laws of cricket with audiovisual support in English and Urdu. The event was conducted Khalil Kazi, assisted by Dr. Sayed Ziauddin and Kashif Mirza.

The umpires went through three days of intensive compact course highlighting the cricket laws and their application and implementation on the ground. The new byelaws introduced recently and their implications was detailed by Khaleel Kazi. Umpires were also trained to deal with the changing situations on the field of play during the match.
