Unilever Arabia struck for Team of the Week honors in an eventful third sesssion that saw an early shakeup in the team standings in the Sarawat Superstores Thursday Bowling League 13th Season at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center.

Unilever returned the top tally of 31 points to become the third team after Magnolia Ice Cream and RJ Tumbador to make the honor roll in the young tournament.

Al Murjana came up with 29 points but that was good enough to get the team in the lead vice D’ Barkads who could only muster 16 points and dropped to third place in the standings.

Also moving up a notch to second place was Habagat after it pooled the third third-best tally of 26 points. Habagat actually tied Murjana on 75 but had to settle for second after the total poinfalls tiebreak. Murjana had total poinfalls of 9,008 after three weeks to Habagat’s 8,983.

Two-time defending champion Magnolia pooled 15 points while Carling Sport Wear had 17. RJ Tumbador tied D’ Barkads on 16 and as a result slid down to fourth from second. AL Striker and BCT-Hokbi Fashion tied on 10 points.

For the second straight week Magnolia produced the individual awardee — Jowett Carrion replicating the feat of teammate Gerry Mandanas as Bowler of the Week on 662 (165, 213 and 242).

Edwin Ronquillo shot the night’s second-best score of 648 in a tie with Murjana’s Mhon Laxamana and along with Reggie Mendoza 639 took charge in the six-man rotation. Bash Langa came through with 579, Tom Langa had 573, Jun Pamintuan added 193-176 and Jess Pineda tossed in 178.

Elo Manalo fired 639 to complement Laxamana in the Murjana production in which Archie Santos contributed 580, Ruel Santoc 573, Jojie Manalansan 191-183 and Rene Ocampo 182.

Over at Habagat Jimmy Aragones and Ver Jasa staged a two-pronged attack on 613 and 607 with Geo Mangaliman on 597, Rommel Cagampang on 596 and Edu Toledo 566.

Besides Carrion the other scorers at Magnolia were skipper Igna Salgado 579, Bandr Al Dossary 571, Mohd. Al Amri 156-213, Mandanas 150-181 and Jay-R de Dios 221-174.
