The host US team won the 2015 Inter-Embassy Soccer Tournament beating French Embassy in the final match recently at the United States Embassy’s Annex compound in the Diplomatic Quarter here.

US Ambassador Joseph W. Westphal and US Deputy Chief of Mission Tim Lenderking welcomed and hosted 10 embassies within the DQ for the whole day tournament as follows: USA, France, Germany, Commonwealth (Australia, New Zealand, Canada) and Nordic (Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden). Their respective ambassadors and deputies also attended and some played as well.

It was a fun-filled event also enjoyed by the families and children. Noble Smile dental clinic, headed by Dr. Ahmed Shamiyah and his crew, was one of the major sponsors for the event.

Atif Khawaja was the chief organizer and the president of the FSN committee of US Embassy.

The US team put up an amazing fight in the knockout final against French squad.

Ambassador Westphal handed out awards and concluded the tournament by thanking all the sponsors and participating embassies.
