VANCOUVER, British Columbia: Alex Wennberg scored the only goal in a shootout and the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 on Thursday night.

Scott Hartnell had a power-play goal in the third period for the Blue Jackets (20-28-5), who are last in the NHL and were coming off a 5-1 loss in Edmonton on Tuesday.

Joonas Korpisalo stopped 37 shots for Columbus.

Linden Vey scored in the first period for Vancouver (20-19-12), which has lost three straight. Ryan Miller made 27 saves.

Henrik Sedin returned to his spot on Vancouver’s top line after missing four games with a shoulder injury.

Rangers 4, Wild 2: Derick Brassard scored early in the third period to help the New York Rangers complete a two-goal comeback and beat Minnesota at Madison Square Garden.

Ryan McDonagh, J.T. Miller and Chris Kreider also scored for the Rangers, who got 16 saves from Henrik Lundqvist.

Ryan Carter and Matt Dumba scored for the Wild, while Devan Dubnyk stopped 26 shots.

Bruins 3, Sabres 2 (SO): Ryan Spooner scored in regulation and the shootout to lead Boston over Buffalo.

Brad Marchand also scored in regulation for the Bruins while Tuukka Rask made 26 saves.

Sam Reinhart and Evander Kane scored in regulation for the Sabres while Chad Johnson made 31 saves.

Capitals 3, Islanders 2: Alex Ovechkin scored the go-ahead goal with 2:40 left and Washington defeated the New York Islanders.

Andre Burakovsky (five goals in his past four games) and T.J. Oshie also scored for the Capitals and Braden Holtby made 24 saves.

Josh Bailey and Mikhail Grabovski scored for the Islanders.

Panthers 6, Red Wings 3: First-place Florida won its fifth straight game, defeating Detroit at the BB&T Center.

Jaromir Jagr had a goal and two assists, his first three-point game since October. The goal was his 16th of the season, breaking the NHL record for a player age 43 or older, one more than Gordie Howe had in 1979-80.

Vincent Trocheck scored twice and Brandon Pirri, Aleksander Barkov and Derek MacKenzie scored the other Panthers goals.

Dylan Larkin, a leading candidate for NHL Rookie of the Year honors, scored twice for the Red Wings while Mike Green added a power-play goal.

Oilers 7, Senators 2: Edmonton kicked off an important four-game road trip with a convincing victory over sagging Ottawa at Canadian Tire Center.

Jordan Eberle led the Oilers with two goals and an assist. Also scoring for Edmonton were Mark Fayne, Andrej Sekera, Brandon Davidson, Zack Kassian and Leon Draisaitl.

Rookie Connor McDavid had two assists for the Oilers in his second game back from a broken collarbone.

Replying for the Senators were Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone.

Flyers 6, Predators 3: Wayne Simmonds scored two goals, giving him six in the last four games, as Philadelphia dumped Nashville at sold-out Bridgestone Arena.

Claude Giroux scored two goals and Matt Read and Brayden Schenn scored one each for the Flyers.

Shea Weber, Ryan Johansen and Calle Jarnkrok scored for the Predators.

Sharks 3, Blues 1: Joonas Donskoi and Joe Thornton scored in a 3:20 span in the second period to lead San Jose over St. Louis.

Joe Pavelski assisted on both goals for the Sharks, who also got a goal from Matt Nieto.

Jay Bouwmeester scored the Blues lone goal.

Maple Leafs 3, Devils 2 (SO): Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau scored the only goal in a shootout and Toronto toppled New Jersey.

The Maple Leafs tied the game late in the third period on a goal by Tyler Bozak to force overtime. Shawn Matthias also scored for Toronto.

David Schlemko and Jacob Josefson scored for the Devils.

Stars 4, Avalanche 3 (OT): John Klingberg scores 35 seconds into overtime and Dallas beat Colorado.

Jason Spezza, Ales Hemsky and Jason Demers also had goals for the Stars and Antti Niemi had 21 saves.

Carl Soderberg and Blake Comeau had a goal and an assist apiece and Nick Holden also scored for the Avalanche, who got 40 saves from Calvin Pickard.
