Al Yamama Warriors, Maskan-HO, and Al Bustan teams posted victories during the Thursday matches in the 1st Maskan Arabia Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Maskan Arabia Camp court on the outskirts of Riyadh.

The Warriors, getting 12 points from Tampus, 11 from Manabat and 10 each from Patrocino and Alecida, whipped Princess Nora Snappers 85-60 for their third win in four games. Christopher Pico and Christerlo Golilao paced the Snappers with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Maskan-HO guaranteed it will not bow out winless in the tournament by beating Nesma KAFD 69-67. It was the first win in five games for Maskan-HO which received double-figure scores from George Abalorio 24 points, Jonald Angeles 12 and Gerry Barerra 11.

Al Bustan stayed on collision course with fellow unbeaten Saudi European Expo (SEE) by completing a weekend double. Thursday, Bustan whipped Nesma NEO 66-56 then returned to the court the following day to beat the Snappers 91-81. The victories improved Bustan’s card to 5-0 with idle SEE on 4-0.

Leading the Bustan charge against NEO were Peter Tornea with 11 points, Glori Melvin with 9 and Josie Gilbert with 8 points. In the match against Snappers Carlito Baslag and Brosoto Robinson were the main men for Bustan. Baslag scored 24 points and Robinson had 17 points, all of them in the second half.

Friday’s matches saw Safid dominate in the second and fourth quarters to demolish Samama Co. 81-71, Maskan Maintenance stop sister-team Maskan HO in a cliff-hanging finish 82-80 and Nesma KAFD beat off-form Al-Hammadi 77-61.

This year’s Organizing Committee members are George Abalorio, Edmund David, Rommel Macalit, Esikiel Gracia, Carlito Baslag, Lemuel Gomotay, Jessie and Bong Anulacion.
