Another big upset for Dabarkads

Dabarkads may be at the bottom of the team standings but they sure have a penchant for inflicting heavy damage especially to teams at the top of the ladder.
In week 22 of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR)-Etihad Airways Tuesday Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC), Dabarkads outgunned No. 2 team Kamahalan 20-13 and captured their second team of the week award.
Glenmar Dela Cruz bannered the team’s upset performance with a 4-game series of 962, with contributions from Jude Lozano (897), Angel Caasi (874), Ruel Pingol (838) and Phines Pingol (647).
In the other games, No. 4 team Habagat gained some ground on the leaders with a win over No. 1 team NBA 19-12, Unica maintained its hold at No. 3 by beating Ayaw Na 18-13, Thrill Seekers downed Vinell Arabia 15-8, SABB Advanced dominated Mandirigma 20-3, SACO Bolts defeated Pin Hitters 16-6 and Lane Cruisers downed Pin Pals 18-6.
Vic Barrazona of Lane Cruisers took the Bowler of the Week award in Group 1 with a series of 950 while Lozano of Dabarkads bagged the award in Group 2. Ronald Bautista still leads the MVP race Group 1 with an average of 213.96 followed by Andro Tismo (212.92) and Mike Miranda (212.71).
In the Group 2 MVP race, Rodel Maranca leads with an average of 209.42 followed by Freddie Solomon (194.67) and Fathi Abdulaziz (185.98).
The league’s main sponsor is Etihad Airways, which will offer 3 return air tickets in Coral Economy Class, 2 for Manila and 1 for any Etihad Airways online destination to top individual achievers at the end of the league.
UFTBR No Tap Open rolls off at Al-Khozama
UFTBR’s “No Tap Open” bowling tournament rolled off at the Al-Khozama Bowling Center last Friday to start the month long qualifying rounds. The event is being organized to commemorate UFTBR’s anniversary. Bowlers need to enter a minimum of three blocks (3 games per block) to qualify. The top 32 qualifiers will move to the semifinal on March 28 and the final on March 29 featuring the top eight finishers from the semi-finals. Cash and special prizes await the winners. The event chairman is Art Palustre with support from UFTBR Officers and Work Committee members.
