The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed five contracts worth SR 1.6 billion for the procurement and construction of 755-km, high-voltage 380 kV power transmission lines Kingdom-wide, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
CEO of SEC Ali bin Salih Al-Barrak said the contracts include the construction of double-circuit aerial transmission lines in Laith, Mahail, Dhaba, Tabuk, Madinah and Bisha. The projects will be completed in 29 months, he said.
The SEC chief said the contracts go a long way in building a national grid for power transmission.
The new projects will help transmit power from one part of the country to the other and economize operation of electric generating units that will positively be reflected on the process of economic development, he pointed out.
