STC launches Security Control Center

STC has inaugurated, in cooperation with Symantec, the region’s largest information security control center.
It will strengthen security for STC’s systems and applications.
The center becomes a nucleus for control, operations and surveillance services rendered to STC and its subsidiaries.
The Security Operations Center aims to provide cost-effective services to a wide variety of small and medium-scale enterprises.
Omer Abdullah Al-Nomany, STC vice president for information technology, said: “Hacking activities that target websites and businesses prompted STC to set up this center. It will operate 24 hours a day for monitoring and operating the Middle East’s largest telecom network in terms of technologies employed for providing services, solutions and security protection.”
STC has been investing heavily in these fields over the past decade.
The partnership with Symantec will turn the Security Operations Center into a world-class security center in terms of technologies and security facilities used, and shall help contact with specialized international centers for detecting and spotting security threats, support backup procedures and monitor security activities around the clock.
Further, STC takes this partnership as the most ambitious investment in young Saudi IT security skills and competencies within the context of recruitment and training programs accompanying this partnership.
Samir Sidani, country manager, Saudi Arabia at Symantec, said: “Symantec Information Security Operation Centers minimize security threats. STC’s decision to partner with Symantec will help develop STC’s security systems.”
He highlighted the importance given by regional companies to protect their data from security breaches. They achieve these objectives by obtaining professional IT security services from other companies.
