Young people have the potential to harness their talent said student Najla Al-Otaibi in her presentation at the 15th Arab Creative Students (ACS) forum at the Imam Mohammad ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU). She was one of several students who spoke before the forum.
She said these creative energies are rooted in Islamic thought derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah and Islamic history in conjunction with contemporary knowledge taught at Saudi universities.
The researcher stressed the need to create opportunities for young people to channel their energies by establishing forums and competitions, whether in sports, cultural or scientific fields.
Ola Tala from Al-Quds Open University in Tulkarem talked about her thesis on a learning management system, known as moodie, which could help in the development of students’ abilities in scientific research. It was also possible to establish a digital electronic library for outstanding graduation projects by using the moodie system for all branches of the university.
Sahar Khatib from the University of Balqa (Jordan) said there were statistically significant differences between men and women in the ability to solve problems in favor of females. She had found evidence for this in the difference between students who studied material scientific research and not in terms of their ability to solve research problems.
Suha Ikrimah from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology of the Republic of Sudan talked about her paper on a computer system that could improve diagnoses of images of breast tumors. She explained how to improve the image of the mammography techniques and how to design a computer system that could identify, detect and classify breast tumors.
Tasneem Fuda of Delta University of Science and Technology of the Republic of Egypt pointed out that environmental influences have an impact on creativity of the individual and technological tools can help overcome these obstacles.
She said creativity in general could only be achieved utilizing resources available in the surrounding environment and trying to employ them in serving technology innovations.
