This is in response to the story, “International Community urged to stop ‘summary executions’ in Bangladesh.” Hats off to Arab News for addressing such serious issues which are often ignored by the mainstream media. This is indeed a nice piece of journalism.
Since Prime Minister Hasina Wajid assumed power, she started atrocities on Jamaat leaders in the name of ‘war criminals’ to punish them for their support to Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Aged Jamaat leaders are behind bars without any mercy bypassing international judiciary standards.
Barrister Toby Cadman rightly pointed out that “targeting a reputable Islamic party will have dire consequences and will affect Bangladesh’s reputation in the Islamic world.” Moreover the people of Bangladesh will not forgive Hasina for such crimes. — Nazeer Ataullah, Jubail
