In partnership with Dubai’s Cinema Akil, Abu Dhabi’s Warehouse 421 has announced a new digital program of contemporary Arab films, ‘Blessed Be the Searchers.’ It all kicked off on Feb. 24 and the diverse schedule will see six different films screened online over three weeks.
‘You Will Die at Twenty’

The movie, directed by Amjad Abu Alala, explores the dilemma of a family whose child may not live beyond 20.
‘Ward’s Henna Party’

In this short film, a henna artist goes to one of Giza’s local areas to prepare a bride for her wedding accompanied by her 7-year-old daughter Ward, who wanders off to explore the vicinity.
‘Last Visit’

The Saudi feature film focuses on a strained father-and-son relationship.
‘Clouds’

Set in 1978 in the south of Oman, this short film revolves around a widower and his two children.
‘Sunday at Five’

Written and directed by Sherif El-Bendary, this Egyptian film is a tale of mind games and manipulation.
‘200 Meters’

Ameen Nayfeh’s film focuses on a family who are riddled with angst at having to live apart, despite being separated by a mere 200 meters. While the man and his mother live in occupied territory, his wife and children live on the other side of the Israeli barrier wall.
