This has reference to the interview with legendary Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi in Arab News (Jan. 21). Afridi is one of the greatest cricketers of our times, yet he publicly states in the interview that he is an “average cricketer.” He is about to reach 400 wickets and scored nearly 300 sixes; he has hit three fastest centuries in international matches. Yet, he calls himself an average cricketer. We don’t know which other athlete in the world holds three out of five world records. He scored the fastest and second fastest centuries, and one of them against the toughest competitor in the game (India) and in the most difficult playing conditions (Kotla ground). Effectively that means that he stands alone on the victory stand. He is incomparable. Yet he calls himself an average cricketer. That means he is modest and a great human being, not just a great cricketer. After Imran Khan, he is the one who brought the Second World Cup (T20) to Pakistan. Long Live Shahid Afridi! — Parvez Naushahi, Alkhobar
