Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has decided to adopt 1,000 families, displaced from five villages of riot-hit areas of Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, and rehabilitate them in their original homes, a press statement released here said.

“Thousands of Muzaffarnagar riot-hit displaced families are forced to live in extremely small relief camps or under open sky without shelter in miserable conditions with very poor sanitation facilities, therefore Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s relief and rehabilitation committee has decided to adopt 1,000 selected families,” said All India Secretary Mohammad Shafi Madani said in the press release.

The organization will try to rehabilitate the families immediately, he said.

Madani said, “We are doing legal works including registering FIRs. We will strive for providing suitable compensations from the government to each victim and will also pressurize the government for proper compensation to all people who suffered any loss and damage of property and commodities,” he said.

“We will also focus on communal harmony and create a good atmosphere in the riot-hit areas and will strive for building good mutual relationships between Muslims and Hindus, and Muslims and Jats,” he added.

Earlier too, members of the jamaat held relief camp at Haridwar railway station in Uttarakhand for victims of devastating flood in the state, according to its officials. The local administration and Indian Railways have cooperated with the team of Jamaat to set up the relief camp at the railway station, says its official release. “They have also provided residential facilities to the Jamaat team.”

The relief camp of the Jamaat was inaugurated by Railway Superintendent GK Das.

The Jamaat relief camp consists of a team of five medical specialists and a mobile hospital equipped with all necessary machinery and facilities for treatment.

Maulana Inamullah Islahi, state president of UP (West) and Uttarakhand, is camping in Haridwar to supervise the relief work. Besides the Haridwar relief camp, Jamaat has also sent some other teams comprising Jamaat leaders and members to Dehradun and Rishikesh, cities in Uttarakhand.

These teams are surveying affected people so that they could also be provided help as per their requirements, claims its media department. In Jamia Nagar also many organizations held relief camps for the flood victims.
