The Saudi-Spanish Center for Islamic Economics & Finance (SCIEF) is organizing a youth immersion week (Jeddah — 2012) to promote Islamic economics and finance for the students of the Islamic Economics (IE) University starting today, Sept. 16-19 at King Abdulaziz University (KAU).
It is aimed to display the practical function of Islamic finance and culture in Saudi Arabia. SCIEF was created in a partnership between IE University and King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in 2009.
Vice Dean for Development Mohmmad Abdullah Nasseef, Islamic Economics Institute, King Abdulaziz University (IEI-KAU) told Arab News that eight students of IE Business School arrived today from Madrid and would be visiting various financial institutions starting today.
IE Business School is recognized as one of the world´s top business schools, with its MBA programs consistently ranked among the first five in Europe and among the first 10 in the world.
The students will visit IEI-KAU, Al Khabeer Capital, Bank Al Jazeera (BAJ), National Commercial Bank (NCB), Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI – IDB group), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI), etc. It is the first such program being organized with a clear aim to expose Islamic financial concepts to young scholars in Europe.
Abdullah Qurban Turkistani, the dean of IEI, felt this is groundbreaking cooperation between two universities and two countries in the promotion of ethical and Islamic finance among the younger generation. The program will be moderated by Mohmmad Abdullah Nasseef.
