ADIPEC kicks off with large participation of speakers

Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) had a colorful start at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) yesterday. The 15th edition of Adipec will run through Wednesday (Nov. 15). The biannual show is described as the world's third largest trade fair in the field of hydrocarbons. The event, which expects to host 50,000 visitors from 91 countries over the next four days, will feature 300 speakers.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, national security adviser, opened the fair in the presence of Mohammed bin Dhaen Al-Hamili, minister of energy, oil and energy ministers from Arab countries, Majid Ali Al-Mansouri, chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, Abdullah Nasser Al-Suwaidi, director-general of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan, CEO of Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) and chairman of the exhibition's current session and other top officials.
Energy Minister Mohammed bin Dhaen Al-Hamili, who opened the conference program, said the scale of ADIPEC and its setting in Abu Dhabi made it an ideal platform to address the complex technical and logistical challenges.
"The next four days will provide opportunities for networking, doing business and above all learning more about recent developments in the oil and gas industry," he added. "We're looking forward to a record-breaking 2012 event. ADIPEC features a larger attendance of national and international oil companies than any event in the region, with some of the best known names in the industry participating," said Kimon Alexandrou, commercial director at dmg::events, which is organizing the event in conjunction with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
