Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index continued its upward march on Sunday.
Med cap index advanced over one percent. Sectoral performance was tremendous, as 12 out of the 15 sectors closed in the upward territory, accumulating an aggregate of 895 points. Insurance showed the best performance among all sectors, surging two and half percent to close the day at 1,586.11.
Energy and Cement sectors followed it, growing by 2.15 percent and 1.39 percent respectively. Most of the major heavyweights finished to the upside, with Saudi Electricity Co. outdid rest of its peers, appreciating by 1.9 percent to SR18.2. Market leader SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) rose by 1.33 percent, closing at SR135.47. There were sixty net advancing issues, a strong market breadth. Mediterranean & Gulf Insurance stepped up to occupy the top position at Tadawul, jumping 8.85 percent and closing at SR56.88.
The company volume went 4.2 times high over its 50-day average.
Tawuniya Insurance was another significant advancer, surging 7.21 percent for the day. Share price of Tawuniya climbed to a new 5-year high, closing at SR57.98.
Market volume went down by 13 percent and traded 298.8 million shares as compared to previous day’s 343.6 million shares. But still it was 20.9 percent greater than 50-day average of 247.2 million shares.
The volume chart was led by Saudi Kayan Petrochemical company with trades over 36 million shares, a relative market share of 12.3 percent.
