KARACHI: Pakistan stocks rose for a fourth straight session on Monday to hit their highest level since Nov. 24, 2015, with cement and oil marketing company stocks leading the rally, analysts said.
The rupee ended at 104.71/104.73 per dollar, compared with Friday’s close of 104.72/104.74.
Overnight rates in the money market rose to 6.50 percent from Friday’s close of 6.10 percent.
The benchmark 100-share index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange closed 1.07 percent, or 358.80 points, higher at 33,808.42.
Traded volume stood at 163 million shares, while traded value was 9.56 billion rupees ($91.35 million).
“The cement sector was in the limelight in anticipation of healthy sales and margin to grow,” said Hammad Aman, an equity sales manager at Topline Securities Pvt Ltd.
