Municipal and Rural Affairs (MRA) Minister Prince Mansour bin Miteb said that the Islamic-based Saudi economy and free market, built on a strong foundation, has proved successful.

Addressing the 2nd Saudi Exhibition and Symposium for Building Industries and Technology (SESBIT-2014) in Riyadh, the minister said other countries have benefited from the Kingdom’s economic model. No wonder, it has made Saudi Arabia one of the high-growth economies in the world.

The four-day event that highlights some major projects taking place under the watch of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah coincides with the 84th Saudi National Day. Major government, private sector and construction firms are also participating in the expo.

The event at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) was attended by Riyadh Gov. Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, under the theme "A touch and fulfillment in the era of development" organized by MMRA.

“The exhibition comes as a live presentation of the multiple projects taking place across the Kingdom in accordance with the vision set by the wise leadership aimed at the country’s renaissance,” the minister noted, adding that his ministry implements several plans, the most important of which is the five-year plan.

He said the ministry is now embarking on the Tenth Plan, which aims to balance the implementation of these projects in all regions for the benefit of citizens across the country.

He spoke on the ongoing implementation of projects in various municipalities. The minister blamed the implementing authorities in these municipalities and contractors for the delay and default on some projects.

He stressed the need to identify the problem with the cooperation of concerned authorities and expedite the implementation of the projects.
