Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has won first place among the top 10 carriers, including Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airlines, in on-time performance during August 2014, according to a report issued by FlightStats, an organization that monitors performance of more than 150,000 flights operated daily by different airlines.

“FlightStats.com recorded that Saudia achieved 88.73 percent on time performance in August 2014 after it operated 16,335 flights during the month,” said Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, director general of the national flag carrier.

Saudia is winning the highest place in on-time performance for the second month in a row.

He said the winning of top place by Saudia reflected the success of its strategic plans and operation systems, especially for the peak seasons.

“We have started our Haj operation during August,” he said, adding that Saudia operates more than 500 flights daily to domestic and international destinations.

“During the peak season, we operate nearly 600 flights daily,” the director general said while emphasizing the airline’s determination to go ahead with its development programs, including modernization of its fleet of aircraft and improving customer services.

Flightstats.com showed that Saudia operated 15,624 scheduled flights during July, achieving an overall on-time performance of 90.7 percent.

“The month of July represented the peak summer season, which was a big challenge for the airline. We overcame the challenge through advanced planning and good coordination between the various sectors,” Al-Jasser said.
