A top Slovakian official has expressed his country's aspiration to cooperate with Saudi Arabia in auto spare parts, electronics, agriculture, construction and industries, among other sectors.

The visiting minister of state for foreign affairs, Peter Burian, invited Saudi businessmen to visit his country and explore investment opportunities, while stressing the importance of cooperation between the chambers of commerce of Slovak and Saudi Arabia.

According to the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC), the two organizations have agreed to cooperate in agriculture, food and technical industries, technology, building and construction, medicine, tourism, industry, training and education.

The visit of Burian, which is the first by a Slovakian high-ranking official, was received here by leaders of the Saudi chambers recently. He expressed their willingness to strengthen economic cooperation with the Slovak Republic and said they are now entering a new phase of cooperation.

Earlier, the Slovakian minister emphasized that his visit to the Kingdom underlines the keenness of his country to strengthen economic ties with Saudi Arabia, which is a major global player.

He said his visit aims to lay a strong foundation for cooperation between the two countries and to identify investment opportunities and joint areas of cooperation.

The minister praised the economic development taking place in his country in the light of its accession to the European Union. It provides the opportunity to enter the European market and enjoy the advantage of political stability and incentives under investment laws.

Burian also referred to a number of economic sectors in his country where strong industrial base is available in addition to small and medium enterprises sector.

On his part, Abdulrahman Al-Zamil, CSC’s chairman, briefed the Slovakian official on the economic base in the Kingdom and the nature of the Saudi market and its openness to foreign investment.

He referred to the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary policies of the Kingdom and the power of financial institutions and their ability to fund national and foreign projects.

According to Al-Zamil, there is room for manufacturing and export as well as for the private sector, which is a dynamic sector in the economic development.

He said the Saudi business sector appreciates this visit, which reflects the interest of Slovakian government in the Saudi market. In this context, Al-Zamil sees the potential in industrial sectors such as petrochemical and high technology among other sector.
