The contest between bulls and bears ended without any significant change at Saudi stock market yesterday, as Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed just below the break-even line, trimming 5.29 points or 0.08 percent to 7,004.71. The index traded within a narrow range of 36 points yesterday.
Saudi sector indices performed in a mixed fashion, with eight sectors accumulating an aggregate of 107 points and seven sectors paring 156 points collectively.
Telecommunication & Information Technology sector continued its upward march, advancing 0.9 percent further to 2,259.48. Building & Construction sector was another significant gainer, rising by 0.78 percent.
On the other hand, Insurance sector came out as worst performing sector, going down more than one percent to 1,342.39.
Most of heavyweights fell slightly down from previous day's level, with Saudi Arabia Fertilizers Co. (SAFCO) declining by 1.29 percent, Kingdom Holding 0.75 percent and Samba Financial Group 0.66 percent. However, Saudi Telecom was key gainer among heavyweight equities, reflecting an increment of 2.24 percent.
The market breadth was slightly negative, with 63 stocks witnessing advances and 70 others marking a decline.
Saudi Steel Pipes and Atheeb Telecom showed the best performance among all Saudi stocks, marching higher by 4.59 percent and 4.16 percent respectively.
Amana Cooperative Insurance, on the contrary, switched its position from the top gainer of previous day to the biggest loser of the day, down SR 12.25 or 9.9 percent.
Market activity was a little low, specifically 253.7 million shares worth SR 6 billion were liquidated at Tadawul.
