The Saudi stock market bucked the four-day downward trend and turned green on Tuesday, adding 0.54 percent for the session. Despite a plunge of 93 points after Tuesday’s opening bell, the Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) finished with a surprise gain of 51.33 points, closing at 9,574.51.

All market cap indices ended in the safe area. Most of the major sectors closed in the green territory, accumulating an aggregate of 750 points.

Transport switched its position from worst performing sector of previous day to the top performer of the day, rising by 2.16 percent and again crossing the 8,000-mark. Real Estate Development was another significant advancing sector, which gained 2.11 percent to 6,435.07.

Media and Publishing sector, on the other hand, continuing its downward fall for the eighth consecutive day, slid exactly five percent to 2,786.15. Heavy weights closed in mixed fashion, where Al-Rajhi Bank rose 0.94 percent and Kingdom holding fell 0.68 percent for the day.

The market breadth was strong for the day as 102 stocks witnessing advances and other 47 stocks marking a decline.

New player Umm Al-Qura Cement Company again made the biggest jump among all Saudi equities, achieving a maximum growth of 9.77 percent to SR14.6.

On the contrary, Tihama Advertising & Public Relations Co. suffered the greatest amount of damages in a consecutive manner, turning down 9.97 percent further. Astra Industrial Group followed it, going down by 5.7 percent. But Astra volume went 7.1 times high over its 50- day average, liquidating 2.2 million shares.

Dar Al-Arkan real estate led the turnover charts, liquidating 51.5 million shares and contributing SR646.9 million. It roughly captured 17.3 percent of the overall market volume, surging 6.94 percent to SR12.93.

Tadawul volume with trades over 297 million shares remained 6.7 percent greater than previous level but still it was 14.3 percent lower than 50-day average. Roughly SR8.9 billion was pumped into the market.
