Movenpick Hotel Alkhobar has announced the appointment of French celebrity chef Michel Breliere as executive chef, bringing with him valuable experience in the art of food preparation and presentation.
Chef Breliere was influenced by his French roots; his mother and grandmother played a major role in steering him toward this line of work," said the hotel in a press release. He received professional training at Thonon les Bains, the oldest and most renowned hotel school in France, from where he graduated with a technical baccalaureate in hotel management.
He then polished his talent and skills in the kitchens of the world working in all six continents, from Australia to Oceania on the island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia, to Indonesia in Jakarta and Bali, and from there to the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Cancun and Cuba, passing through Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, India, and finally Alkhobar.
Chef Breliere worked for the two leading Indian hotel chains — Oberoi and Taj — and organized and cooked for the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs in Aruba, Bahrain and Bangkok and catered for kings, presidents, celebrities and dignitaries at state events.
From the Royal Family of Bahrain, King Abdallah of Jordan, and King Juan Carlos of Spain to Prince Charles and late Princess Diana, presidents of South America, French presidents Mitterrand and Chirac, famous film stars including Jack Nicklaus and James Bond's Pierce Brosnan, and legendary singers James Brown, David Bowie, Elton John and Shakira.
He worked for four years as executive chef at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center, and then at the Ramada Jumeirah, Dubai, where he was executive chef for a year and a half.
He describes his cooking motto as: "Respect the product and make sure the taste and seasoning are there."
