Ericsson, a provider of communications technology and services worldwide, will discuss business opportunities in networked societies and reveal the first Middle East and North Africa (MENA) city index report at the Networked Society Forum on Sept. 22 at the Atlantic in Dubai.

“Today, connectivity is regarded as one of the most important forms of communication, and the speed at which the industry is developing new and innovative business solutions is phenomenal,” said Anders Lindblad, president of Ericsson in the Middle East region.

He said: “The information and communications technology (ICT) sector in the UAE and the Middle East holds many new opportunities for new startups and young entrepreneurs to seize this opportunity and contribute to the formation of the Networked Society in this region.”

The forum will discuss the real impact of ICT as a business-enabler and ICT’s role in advancing entrepreneurship, as well as highlight business shift and trends in the different cities around the region.

The prominent guest speakers will discuss the real impact of information and communication technology as a factor to create business opportunities, in addition to the role of information and communication technology in the promotion of entrepreneurship, as well as highlight the transformation and business trends in light of the rapid development of the information technology sector and telecommunications in the region and the world.

The forum will consist on three major sessions. In first session, the economic prosperity, future cities innovation, the Internet opportunities, smart solutions for efficient future cities and the role of ICT will be conferred.

The second significant session will include sparking entrepreneurship for a prosperous future, founding a start up in the Middle East and boosting startup culture fueled by ICT.

The third session will be grounded on opportunities for the young generation.

It will discuss the city businesses, including utilities, transportation, education, health care among others which are facing a fundamental shift in the way consumers demand and purchase their products and services.

The forum will open the doors to the machine-to-machine (M2M) field that is expected to be a fundamental part of life.

All of these topics and additional topical IT trends will be part of the forum’s discussions.
