As part of its IHG Academy partnership InterContinental Jeddah organized a live cooking show at the King Abdulaziz University (KAU) Tourism Institute on Thursday (March 13).

"IHG Academy is a global initiative with IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) that provides local people with skills development and employment opportunities in one of the world's largest hotel companies.

It is a core pillar of our CSR activity and improves employability and creates job opportunities, building sustainable communities around our hotels and in the industry at large, said Salem Al-Shahrani, GM, Intercontinental Jeddah.

Executive Chef Ojvind Karlsen along with Area Training Manager Anjum Khan led the initiative that was appreciated by Dean Ibrahim Al-Sini and his team.

The students along with the chef prepared a 3 course Danish cuisine, and the live cooking show took place for an hour at the demo Kitchen of the university in the presence of the dean, guests and students.

As part of the IHG Academy agreement, the hotel trained 24 students until February, of whom 6 were given full time employment.
