Lulu hypermarket, a fast growing retail chain, is organizing its Agro Food Fest in association with the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) from March 5 to 11 at its three outlets in Riyadh and Alkhobar.

The inaugural ceremony of the festival will be at 5 p.m. on March 5 in Riyadh and Alkhobar outlets. As part of the festival, Lulu will exhibit wide ranging indigenously grown fruits and vegetables, and offer them at a bargain price.

As part of this event, the MOA will showcase its impressive growth and development in the Kingdom in a pictorial exhibition.

During this event, Lulu in Alkhobar will be showing a documentary developed by the MOA demonstrating the extensive transformation in agriculture across the Kingdom. Local farmers and cultivators are also given a platform in Lulu Hypermarkets to introduce and offer their produce in line with the agro fest.

By this festival, Lulu intends to gather and offer more than 100 varieties of genuine locally grown agro produce. These are sourced from Hail, Al-Kharj, Al-Hassa, Jazan and Qatif where agriculture is pursued in full pace.

“The agricultural production sourced from the Kingdom has reached 60,000 tons in 2013; it includes 2,000 tons of onion and potato from the country," Rizvin Razaq, the buying manager, is quoted to have said. He added: “The whole purpose of this event is to throw some light on the massive cultivation undertaken in the Kingdom."
