Malabar Gold & Diamonds, a major jewelry retailer in the Middle East, associated with KMCC’s Taif central committee, conducted Shraddeyam 2014, a free medical camp, in February. A food festival and an open forum were also held on the day.

Over 1,500 people took advantage of the medical camp and free consultations. Twenty-six doctors and specialists, including general physicians and dermatologists were present.

Free cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure tests were also on offer. Medicines were distributed free of cost by Malabar Gold & Diamonds to the needy.

Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, consul general of India, opened the forum. Dr. Basheer Poonnoor, KMCC Taif central committee president, Jamal Vattapoyil, Nalakath Mohammed Sali, Gafoor Pullaloor and Siyadh, regional marketing executive of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, were among those present at the event.

Malabar Gold and Diamonds is a group with over 111 retail outlets across India and the Middle East. CSR activities are an important part of the organization’s philosophy since its inception in 1993 and it is committed to making a real difference in the society.

The group has decided to allocate 10 percent of its profits for the benefit of the needy through several new CSR projects. It is focusing on five priority areas such as housing, the environment, women empowerment, and medical and educational sectors.
