Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) participated in the Metal & Steel Saudi Arabia 2014 exhibition in Riyadh from April 7 to 10 as its platinum sponsor, showcasing its wide range of steel products to meet the growing needs of the building and construction sector.

The exhibition, which was opened on behalf of Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, minister of commerce and industry, by Majdi Al-Sahhaf, adviser to the minister, on April 7, offered a high-profile business platform to the participants. SABIC products on display included its wide portfolio of long and flat Steel, which are widely used in the local and regional markets, besides global construction projects.

Commenting on SABIC’s participation in the event, Abdulaziz Al-Humaid, EVP, metals SBU, said, “The exhibition presented us an opportunity to project our market-leading position and our commitment to meet our customers’ needs. We are a reliable, customer-focused supplier in both the long and flat steel markets and pride ourselves of being one of the largest steel producers in the region.”

SABIC’s wholly-owned Jubail-based affiliate, Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed), has developed a wide portfolio of steel products, including steel rebar, wire rod, hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled coils, galvanized coil, and color-coated coils.

The Metal & Steel Saudi Arabia 2014 exhibition was the largest of its kind in the GCC countries. This year, about 200 companies from 16 countries participated, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, England, Spain, Italy, Romania, India, China, Taiwan and Vietnam.

It featured key products related to the metals industry such as iron and steel, metal pipes, steel structures, metal castings, steel manufacturing machinery and furnaces, as well as technologies relating to the iron and steel industry.
