Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) organized an open day for child patients at King Fahd National Centre for Children's Cancer and Research (KFNCCCR).

Included in the event was a visit by the company's delegation led by Khaled Al-Mana, SABIC EVP, polymers, and Yaarob Al-Thenayan, director, CSR.

The delegation visited the children at the center's various wards, and greeted and wished them a quick recovery.

The open day included an entertainment program presented by cartoon characters who conducted various awareness games for the children.

The open day program is part of SABIC's social responsibility strategy, which aims to engage the community and help those who are in need.

It is also meant to better acquaint SABIC with the work of the cancer facility for children and to explore areas of cooperation, particularly in developing programs that promote the efforts of the center, enhance awareness of the importance of volunteer work and mobilize community support for sustainable development programs.

Abdullah Al-Jafri, GM and management staff, extended thanks and appreciation to SABIC for its initiative taken for the children's benefit.

The KFNCCCR is the first of its kind in the Middle East, with a mission focusing on two objectives — the treatment of children with malignant tumors and blood diseases, as well as conducting research on the treatment and prevention of tumors and blood diseases.

The center was established as a gift from Dr. Nasser Al-Rashid to the Kingdom.

The facility has become a model similar to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in the US — being one of the largest two unique centers of the same model in the whole world.
