After the success of the Riyadh Fashion Days, Maison BO-M organized a five-day fashion show in Jeddah.

The Jeddah Fashion Days brought almost 22 fashion designers from around the Kingdom, Kuwait and Egypt to Jeddah and put them in the spotlight at Stars Avenue Mall.

Faris and Layla Al-Shehri, the couple behind the venture, brought the collections of various local and international fashion houses to this event.

Maison BO-M refers to the bohemian lifestyle of the 19th century in Paris, where young artists were living a free life separate from a rigid society, following their passions and fantasy without cultural boundaries.

Maison BO-M opened galleries in 2012 and provides a platform to emerging creative talents in art, design and fashion.

“It aims to support new talent, inspired by different representatives of art and promote the traditional heritage and handicraft. Our initiative provides the new talent with a platform; our stores offer a varied range of items. These go from luxury to contemporary fashion and accessories, gift items, books, designers wear, furniture and more,” said Al-Shehri.

“We started this a year ago in Riyadh and wanted to bring the experience to Jeddah. We want to establish a fashion industry in Saudi Arabia where Saudi designers can showcase their talent and can get exposure in the market and come to know about trends and fashion needs,” Al-Shehri added. Maison BO-M plans to take the fashion show to Alkhobar by the end of the month.

Shima Tayeb, a Saudi fashion designer for the Jungle Blue collection, said she loves wearing different designs and different clothes so she started fashion designing a year ago.

She travels often and felt impressed and inspired by different cultures and different needs of the women.

“I don’t create things for particular collections. I think each design is unique by itself and it has its own inspiration, and a story behind it. I use my senses and whatever else comes in my mind. Those images I use to make my collections,” she explained

Jungle Blue is a collection of sporty chic garments that one can wear anytime of the day. They are casual and sporty gowns mainly made out of cotton as the country’s weather dictates.

Rija Momena from Future Institute said her graduates in Fashion Design participated in the show.

“Different companies collaborated to support Jeddah Fashion Days and promote Saudi designers, bring them in the spot light and help them start their own business. Future Institute teaches Fashion Design and our 10 students exhibited some pieces of their collection,” she said.

The collection of Nazeeka was a mix of bold colors, geometric designs combined with Islamic patterns, oriental and calligraphy in all the forms on soft flawing materials were giving a dynamic look. The loose tops, kaftans and tunics made especially for wear in hot Saudi weather.

Nazeeka collection is a young women’s wear and accessories brand created and designed by two sisters Nabiha and Meisa. Being of Arab origin and having studied and lived in Italy and the Arab world they dreamed of creating their own brand and produce modern clothes with an Arab touch.

Sara Turbans also tried to bring a modern touch with religious and cultural ethics. Turbans in different shades and colors presented a dynamic look that covers the head.

The brand was established to provide Saudi ladies with a fun alternative to hair coverings. “Our collection is made for elegant, fashionable ladies who like to stand out of any crowd,” said Sara.

Swan Boutique presented a collection of abayas to integrate some of the best moments in everyday life. Swan’s trendy abaya with jewelry was inspired by different cultures.

Maison BO-M strives hard to find labels that combine distinctive design that is not instantly identifiable, with excellent quality and competitive prices. However, ultimately, Faris and Layla Al-Shehri just want their customers to “have fun while shopping.” Call it relaxed retailing or an exclusive pop-up shop with a homely feel.
