MWL conference stresses cultural dialogue

The 15th Makkah Conference organized by the Muslim World League (MWL) has emphasized the importance of cultural dialogue to improve relations between the various faith communities and deepen a culture of peaceful coexistence among them.
In the final communiqué issued at the end of the conference on Tuesday, the participants emphasized that Islam has nothing to do with extremism and terrorism practiced by some groups of its followers.
The three-day conference titled “Islamic Culture: Origin and Reality” called for making greater efforts to spread the true message of Islam among Muslim communities, especially the youth, to prevent them from falling prey to terrorist groups.
The participants hailed the speech made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah at the opening of the conference. The king had urged Muslims to embrace modernity without discarding Islamic values.
They also lauded the Kingdom's efforts in strengthening Muslim unity as well as its efforts in combating terrorism and extremism.
The participants pointed out that the Islamic culture has a greatest impact in the life of Muslims, increasing their faith and achieving human dignity, tolerance and justice.
The conference called upon the Islamic and cultural institutions to deepen the awareness of Muslims regarding a need to apply true Islam in their lives and maintaining the Islamic identity and pride of belonging to Islam.
The participants thanked King Abdullah, Crown Prince Salman and Deputy Crown Prince Muqrin for their efforts in supporting the Islamic culture, enhancing services to pilgrims and carrying out development and expansion projects for the Two Holy Mosques and the holy sites.
More than 500 delegates from Saudi Arabia and other countries participated in the conference, which was opened by Makkah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah. MWL Secretary-General Abdullah Al-Turki expressed his happiness over the successful completion of the annual conference.
