JEDDAH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, has urged authorities not to pardon the notorious drifter known as “King of Nadheem,” who has been sentenced by a Riyadh court to six years in prison and 600 lashes for causing the death of his companion during his behind-the-wheel antics.
Riyadh police said they have started implementing the law on the convicted drifter on the crown prince’s directives. The police said they would take firm action against drifters who play with the lives of others. “We’ll impose tough punishment on those who are found drifting on Saudi roads and streets.”
In a related development, Saudi security agencies have started seizing vehicles of people involved in the menacing pastime. Saudi bloggers welcomed the crown prince’s directive and said such traffic violators deserve tougher punishment.
