Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, second deputy premier, will launch a project promoted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Foundation for International Humanitarian Work to extend care for kidney patients next Wednesday in Riyadh.

This humanitarian project envisages setting up of two dialysis centers in Riyadh and one in Jeddah in the first phase with a total of 475 dialysis machines in the two cities. A total of 1,000 dialysis machines will be allocated to such centers in other cities in subsequent phases.

The second phase involves launching dialysis centers in the cities of Makkah, Madinah, Hail, Qassim and Rafha, with 230 dialysis machines for patients in need. The third stage will be taken up to set up such centers with 295 dialysis machines covering other cities in the Kingdom, and the entire operation will be completed over a period of seven years serving 5,000 patients.

The Health Affairs Department at the Ministry of National Guard will be providing operational support and oversee launch of these humanitarian centers for dialysis through trained medical staff. The project, once implemented, will serve the growing number of kidney patients in the Kingdom.
