JEDDAH: A recent video was posted on YouTube by a group of six Saudi young men covering the “Gangnam style” hit song by the Korean singer “Psy.”
In just a few days, the Saudi version attracted a crowd of more than three million views, delivering the latest Saudi inside jokes through the Gangnam style.
The video took place in the streets of Riyadh. Relating the song to traditional habits of Saudis.
The group danced, highlighting the recent noticeable trend of Saudi men leaving their thobes behind and going out to run errands, pass by a friend’s house or having to drive the kids to school, announcing comfort publicly.
Consequently, the makers of the video threw another joke when the lemon soda drink was placed in unexplained, unexpected, strange places. Adding a random sense of humor to those who were familiar with it.
Basically it was based on a funny fact where young Saudi’s go through stages in which they prefer drinks through time, growing up. Starting from SunTop to the local energy drink Code Red, passing by the teen stages of favoring the lemon soda drinks.
Nonetheless, one scene caught the attention of the viewers, according to the comments below the video.
“Irqa Hospital,” also known as the ghost’s hospital in Riyadh, the video makers had a person covered all in black running at the background of the hospital’s location.
Adding a fuzzy, imaginary, blink of an eye of a ghost appearing.
