This is regarding the current controversy over Akbaruddin Owaisi’s hate speech and his subsequent arrest by the Andhra Pradesh police. As the matter is being heard in a local court of the state, I would like to request the government of India at the center as well as the state government to apply same standards while dealing with the issues like hate speech.
There have been many instances where Hindu fanatics have managed to get away after making virulent and vituperative remarks against the Muslim community in many parts of the country.
In this particular case what is more disturbing is that Owaisi has already been booked, then why so many cases are still being registered on the same issue in different parts of the state and other courts in India. — Mohammed Hamed, By e-mail
