Kwality, Altayar I book semis berths; Combibo, Almutlak triumph

JEDDAH: Kwality Ice Cream came up with a big win against Supreme Foods 72-50 in the match for a spot in final four in the 2012 Perfetto Basketball Tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at Industrial City Dawa h Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
In the early minutes of the game, Alturas single handedly carried Supreme Foods to score 9 points in the first quarter that ended 16-15 but Kwality tighten up its defense and made an adjustment offensively.
The Double V twin tower combination of Valle and Villalon combined for 11 and their rebounding prowess while Dragon and De Guzman waxed hot from long range as Kwality raced to a 33-19 first half lead.
From there, Kwality never gave the enemy any chance leading by more than 20 points en route to victory.
Mcniell De Guzman was chosen the best player of the game with 16 points.
Altayar also booked its place in the semis when they downed great rival Ulker 77-64 in a very exciting game.
Abulencia was scoreless in the first quarter but made an impact and finished with 19 points to become the best player of the game. Led by Leo Tablante, Ulker tried to play good defense in the third canto, but Sandoval started to make his moves to the basket and made his presence felt especially in fast break plays.
Despite Paira’s best effort at FMG Combibo II came out easy winner at 83-57. Defensive skills and the balanced scoring made the difference for Combibo with Barry as best player after scoring 25 points.
In another lopsided contest, powerhouse Almutlak crushed B-Cola 86-50. Almutlak left B-Cola by a proverbial mile and the third quarter ended 64-36. Ampong who was chosen the best player of the game.
