These days we read so much about fighting terrorism and extremism. It is not just the responsibility of the government or the state; we all should share this responsibility. This is a fight that requires each of us to make contributions in our own little ways.
We can’t just sit and expect the government to clear all the mess for us. This attitude needs to change. We should try to keep an eye on our children and even on the youth in our neighborhoods. We should tell our children stories about the life of our Prophet (peace be upon him) and about the lives of his companions. We should teach our children that Islam is a religion of peace. We all are equal in the eyes of Allah and that we should respect each other.
The other day, I read the last sermon of our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and tears began to roll down my cheeks. I realized that we have completely abandoned his teachings. We are Muslims by names but not by conduct. — Wardah Shabbir, Jubail
