The Literary Club of Hail will host a poetry evening today in cooperation with Hail University. The event will see the participation of a number of local poets including Khaleef Al-Shammari, Qablan Al-Darae and Muneef Al-Salmani.
The poetry session is part of a weeklong book fair hosted at the Prince Sultan Cultural Center in Hail. The vice-president of the Literary Club, Rasheed bin Salman Al-Saqri, invited intellectuals and other guests in the region to attend the poetry evening. Al-Saqri expressed his thanks and appreciation for Hail University President Khalil Al-Ibrahim, who is also a member of the Literary Club as well as the university staff for making the cultural evening a reality. A number of seminars and lectures have been organized on the sidelines of the book show at the university. Khaled Al-Malik, editor in chief of Al-Jazirah Arabic daily, gave a lecture on “The Disappearance of Print Media: How and When?” Al-Malik urged Saudi newspapers to prepare themselves for going digital to keep pace with new trends in the media.
He said the circulation of printed newspapers is increasing and not decreasing as predicted by analysts. Al-Ibrahim presented a memento to the chief of Al-Jazirah newspaper at the end of his lecture.
